Coming Fall 2025: Reasons to Hate Me, a witty, poignant Young Adult contemporary novel starring a seventeen-year-old autistic theatre nerd who flips the script on the school bullies by starting a blog dedicated to her own flaws.

It’s the fall of Jess Lanza’s senior year and unfortunately, the cyberbullies that hounded her all summer are still stuck on the Jess is a boyfriend-stealing slutbag narrative. Jess agrees that last year’s life-ruining mistake is an excellent reason to hate her, but there are so many more imaginative reasons. As an aspiring playwright, she can’t allow her fellow students to post such stale content without offering her assistance. Therefore, she starts blogging about her own most ridiculous fails and embarrassing character traits to provide the cyberbullies with more creative material. (And if her own writing should happen to distract away from their earlier posts … well, she’s not complaining.)

But whether it’s a story about staging a jewelry heist in English class or accidentally setting a cafeteria microwave on fire, all of Jess’s posts circle back to her friendship with Chloe, the friendship her alleged sluttiness pulverized last year. The gaping hole Chloe left in her life has paralyzed Jess, preventing her from enjoying her senior year and from completing the application to a college writing program that could launch her playwriting career. As she chases Chloe’s forgiveness, however, Jess must confront some of her darkest weaknesses—and darker still, the truth of what happened with Chloe’s boyfriend, a story neither of them wants to hear.
